I have been a practicing lawyer for over 28 years. For 20 of those years, my practice has been restricted exclusively to the practice of Family Law. I received my law degree at Queens University after studying Commerce at Carleton University at Carleton University in Ottawa.
Family Law is about people. My philosophy is that people going through a separation want the security to know that they can control their financial futures and maintain strong and significant roles in the lives of their children. Where both parties have a desire to settle their affairs fairly, mediation produces the best chance to get to an agreement fairly and inexpensively.
My mediation practice focuses on education, sensible parenting arrangements and practical financial settlements that leave both spouses able to move forward with confidence that the arrangement is fair.
I am an avid soccer player and fan. I live in Ottawa’s West end with my wife, Michele, and am blessed with four adult children and a grandchild.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote about the definition of success:
“To laugh much; to win…the affections of children;…to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition…to have laughed and played with enthusiasm…to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived – this is to have succeeded.”
Life continues after a separation. I consider it an honor to assist you to get past this most difficult stage in your lives with dignity and respect. That step can become part of your own definition of success.
